I’ve been playing with a load of new iphone photo apps – there are the obvious ones I have had for a while…
Camerabag – great app for different type of filters from lomo to magazine to reto.
Lomo – simple app to convert images into lomoesque images
Quadcamera – another simple app taking 4 to 8 pictures in a session like Lomo Actionsampler ,
Vint B&W – simple conversion to black and white
TiltShiftGen - allows you set the focus and blur on an image
Polarize – best polaroid style filter I have found.
But they are the basics, now I have added a few more to the mix. Most importantly, I work my images across a variety of different apps before I get to the end results.
Snapture – haven’t quite got it working, but the premise is to take 3 quick photos in a go. That is the problem with iPhone camera by the time you are ready to take the photo, the moment is gone and takes forever to reset.
Mill Colour – not it starts to get interesting, I can really start to play with colour. I can play with constrast and brightness but most importantly I can shift these variables across any RGB channel.
ColorClaw – use the colour tone of one image and apply to another. Sweet!
Zoom Lens – zoom in – pretty obvious
Light – apply light filters and gobos over the top. Use sparingly, can look a little cheap and nasty, but nice for subtle light and reflections
DXP – my current fave, double exposure – how fab is that. And four overlay filters to apply. And can do more than one double exposure. So you can play for hours.
PhotoGene – the most advanced. All sorts of tools – crop, rotate, resize, colour shift, contrast levels.
So all in all, I have a mini photoshop in my pocket.
